Topknot Oscar beckoning for Sharon Libby Sibilev THE BOSS of a Manchester hair salon has been nominated for a hairdressing Oscar for the second consecutive year. Sharon Peake, director of Ethos Hairdressing, impressed judges at the British Hairdressing Awards, with her "80s retro styles with a sprinkle of 50s" taking her within reaching distance of hairdressing's most coveted award. Sharon, 36, said: "This is the largest and most important nationwide competition in the world of hairdressing. We are over the moon to get to the finals. This means the world to us and our business. "We intend to publicise our achievement in our posters, price lists and in any literature we release. We are very proud of it and are hoping to take home the title at this year's event." Sharon has just celebrated the first year of Ethos Hairdressing, in Manchester's fashionable Northern Quarter, and the news that stylist Lauren McMurray-Sherwin has won the finals of the Wella Trend Vision Award 2004. Lauren, 23, said: "It's a fantastic accolade to receive, especially as I was judged against some of the best hairdressers in Britain." Sharon will find out if she has won in November.
