Peggy Bresnick Kendler Hair salon giant Regis Corp., which operates and franchises more than 11,200 hair salons under various brand names including Supercuts and Vidal Sassoon, has purchased the Famous Hair, Chicago Hair and Hair Inc. chains. The price of the acquisition, which closed recently, was not disclosed.
The three newly-acquired chains operate 105 hair salons, most of which are located in Ohio. Regis Corp. anticipates the stores to contribute $34 million in annual revenue to its operations.
A spokeswoman at the International Council of Shopping Centers told CPN today that many retailers have been concentrating on growing their businesses through mergers and acquisitions. "For Regis, this is a smart decision to get into an area they'd like a presence in by acquiring an established company so they can establish their brand and carry their brand forward," she said.
